A nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, the International Republican Institute (IRI) advances freedom and democracy worldwide by developing political parties, civic institutions, open elections, good governance and the rule of law. IRI has operated in Uganda since 2003 to strengthen political pluralism and multi-party democracy through supporting the development of political parties, civil society organizations, and public dialogue.
